Uncovered Primary Source: Mary Margaret McBride

Last week, we examined primary sources of our EOTO Hero. When people were presenting thier primary sources, it gave me some new ideas of places to look so I thought I would do a small follow up post.

At first glance, The New York Times archive was not very helpful but after further examination I was able to find a few articles about Mary Margaret McBride.

This clip was writen by McBride when she was still writing. It was a basic peice talking about a girl away from home aka her and her life getting out of Missouri and into the world of Journalism.

Another article that was particularly interesting was the one above. McBride's sister-in-law was charged with the shooting a man.

How bizarre!!

It is interesting not only for the context of murder but also that this was one of the articles that had popped up under McBride's name.

There are only a few other articles about Mcbride in the archive so for this to be one of the few is strange to me. Since she was such an influential radio host I would have thought she would have been more prominate in news.

But it turns out all the news cared about was what was going on in her personal life.

Just a little food your thought! Hope you enjoy they rest of your week.
